Ballenger Motorsports is excited to announce a new rebate trade-in program for purchasers of the AFR500v3 and AFR500v3CAN!

Anyone who purchases an AFR500v3 or v3CAN module only or kit (or has already purchased one) is eligible to send in a verified, working AFR500v2 or AFR500CAN for a rebate of $100 ($125 CAN) against the purchase. Only one rebate can be claimed against each purchase.

Conditions are as follows: Units must be tested and verified to be 100% functional, and traceable by order of origin and/or serial number. Ballenger Motorsports is not obligated to accept any unit or return the full advertised rebate amount. We reserve the right to offer a lesser amount for any reason, to include excessive visual wear, excessive dirt or other contamination, lack of full or partial function, need for repairs, and any other complications that would require additional service and time investment to restore the unit to sellable refurbished condition. Only the module is necessary for the rebate, harnesses and / or sensors will not be accepted for any additional rebate.

“When is the AFR500v2 going to be available again?”

This is a question we have been receiving regularly since the introduction of the new generation. No more v2 or original CAN units will be produced, however there are still thousands upon thousands of them still reliably in service to this day – and our goal with the above trade-in / rebate announcement is to make them available again as a refurbished offering.

For those who feel that they don’t need the new features and capabilities of the v3 and v3CAN, but would still like the option of v2 hardware at its original circa-2014 price point, we will be making refurb kits available starting in early 2024!

Refurbished kits will be made available through their original product pages according to their availability. When we have none, the web page will show “out of stock”.

What’s new with the AFR500v3?

  • A digitally derived output with a higher resolution digital/analog converter
  • FOUR times the measurement resolution (4096 increments compared to the previous 1024)
  • The ASIC chips, one of the most common points of failure from electrostatic damage, will be completely replaced with a custom board providing better protection and upgrade capabilities.
  • The ability to display from 0.0 to 6.0 in lambda setting for better flexibility with alternate fuels such as diesel.
  • Ability to upgrade firmware for future sensor types
  • All harnesses, control units, accessories, etc are backwards and forwards compatible
  • Options are selectable at any time via internal jumpers

Injector Dynamics Brushless Pump Controller Systems

The BPC100 mated to the TI Automotive E5LM brushless pump represents a new approach to fueling high power racing engines – providing enough fuel for 2000+ hp on ethanol at pressures as high as 150 psi from a single pump.

How Does it Work?

The BPC100 is a microprocessor-based pump controller which monitors pump speed and maintains a target flow rate even as operating conditions change. It does so by powering the pump from an internal power supply, making pump flow independent of battery voltage and fuel pressure across a broad operating range.

This is in sharp contrast to conventional designs where flow is a function of system voltage and fuel pressure,

Consider that while a pair of 500 l/h conventional pumps may flow a combined total of 1,000 l/h at 3 bar and 13.5 volts, this can drop as low as 700 l/h at 30 psi of boost. That same 30 psi of boost at 4 bar static pressure and 12.0 volts reduces the flow even further, as low as 500 l/h – less than half the advertised value.

Note that this is not a defect, or misleading marketing, it is simply the nature of conventional pumps.

In comparison, the BPC100 is capable of maintaining 1,100 l/h under the conditions above, and more. How about 5 bar static pressure, and 5 bar boost with a broken alternator belt and a failing battery delivering only 8 volts at the 1320?

Still…1,100 l/h!

These injectors flow 46.5 lbs/hr at 43.5 PSI (3 BAR) and much more at higher PSI! Despite the high flow rate, they are linear and controllable at low pulse widths and have been used in ULEV applications! Bosch Motorsports Combined Pressure Sensor PST-F 1

This sensor is designed to measure relative gasoline pressure and gasoline temperature in port injection systems. The pressure measurement of the sensor is by means of a piezoresistive element which is acted on by a silicon diaphragm in contact with the fluid being measured. The reference (relative) pressure is provided via an opening in the sensor housing and acts on the active upper side of the silicon diaphragm.
